Australia's floral trends of 2022
A brand-new year means a fresh new bouquet of floral trends - so get set to bloom! The team at Roses Only have been busy keeping our eyes on what's hot and what's not in the international floristry space and are happy to serve up our floral trend predictions for the year.
Unsurprisingly, we've seen the emergence of an old classic - the humble sunflower is back on top as the flower to watch in the coming months. With their naturally happy disposition, sunflowers are helping put 2021 far behind us and providing a renewed sense of hope and positive energy for the year ahead.
Sunflowers have been steadily growing in popularity for a while now, and we think their bright yellow petals and single large heads beam positivity - something we all need right now.
An added bonus is that when you or your loved one receives them, some will be in bud or semi-open, meaning you can watch them slowly blossom and enjoy their gorgeous faces for longer.
According to behavioural research conducted at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, the presence of flowers triggers happy emotions, heightens feelings of life satisfaction and affects social behaviour in a positive manner far beyond what is normally believed – with sunflowers topping the list of those that make us happiest.
Some of the other flower varieties which made our predictions for the year ahead include natives, phalaenopsis orchids for the luxe factor, and reflexed roses - where the petals of premium roses are folded back to show a fuller 'bloomed' looking rose.
There's also an emerging trend in floral arrangements for special events and occasions which is leaning towards a more natural and organic theme.
Asymmetry and arrangements that are a bit wilder in shape, moving away from the old traditional rounded and tight posy bouquets of the past, are what we think will lead the way this year.
Grouped styling of flowers, rather than having them evenly mixed throughout the bouquet, and statement flowers for that amazing pop of colour will also be very popular.
Roses Only is also seeing an emergence in monochromatic designs, where the foliage is a similar colour tone to the flowers, this stunning style is very on trend especially for events such as weddings.
If you're looking to add a splash of colour and positivity to your life, be it your home or office space, be sure to check out our beautiful bouquets of sunflowers here.
On a final note, just like the humble sunflower, Roses Only wish you a bright and sunny 2022 that is full of positivity and happiness.
