Where to begin when planning a wedding
Planning a wedding: where to begin...
Hurray, congratulations! You’re about to embark on a fun (not stressful) and amazing (not overwhelming) journey of planning your wedding. This is your chance to make all your dreams come true when you marry the love of your life. But before you fully submerge yourself into the world of weddings, read these important tips and keep them in mind as you go.
Start with a budget - and stick to it.
As you delve further into the world of weddings, you can easily get carried away with planning and you will add more and more things you want to the list. It’s important to set a wedding budget right from the very start and then make sure you stick to this budget throughout the whole planning process. Every decision you make should revert back to the question, “but does that fit in with the budget?” Do some research before you set your budget, this helps you to understand what is important to you for the day.
Organisation is key.
There is soooo much to think about when it comes to a wedding. Where? When? Seasons? Colours? Bridal party? Wedding flowers? Entertainment? Honeymoon? And don't get us started on the dress! One of the best pieces of advice we can give you is to be organised. Write a list of everything you need for your wedding, and then everything you would like for the wedding (remember, budget), then go through each of these and set yourself deadlines for when they would need to be organised by. Buy yourself a wedding planner book. Create a countdown calendar. You want to enjoy this exciting time without feeling rushed and stressed.
Both parties can be involved.
Remember, there’s two people getting married on this special day. That’s the bride AND the groom. Although brides do tend to lead the way when it comes to wedding planning, it’s still important to involve the groom too and make sure you both agree on everything. That’s everything apart from the dress of course. Deciding on the theme or overall look of the wedding is a fun part to plan together, this can really set the tone for the florals, dress code and invitations.
Have fun and enjoy it!
It’s an exciting time planning your wedding. It’s the countdown to one of the biggest life events you will experience, so it’s important that you enjoy every single minute of it. There is a lot to plan for the wedding, but we’re hoping it will make the planning process a little less stressful with our top tips.
